The final performance of La Gazzetta was two days before I was due to get on a plane back to Aussie land. Months ago when I received the email that I’d be in the opera orchestra I was slightly dreading the full on rehearsal schedule (almost everyday – at least 3 hours – for 2+ weeks) that would somehow run against packing 4 boxes and 4 suitcases, plus cleaning out my room and brain-racking over eating nutritious meals whilst emptying the fridge.
Three weeks passed as a great success. After bars and bars of Rossini, I came to realize how fortunate I was to play his music. I was also very glad to have been placed in a position where I could just glance over the top of the stage and see the upper bodies of singers in role-play.
It's already been a week since La Gazzetta, but here's some little memory notes I still remember...
Here's a review by an audience member who saw the first performance: http://boulezian.blogspot.com.au/2014/06/la-gazzetta-royal-college-of-music-24.html .
