The K-Pop industry really knows how to promote the Spring season huh. But this time, it's not just the typical Spring, lovey-dovey mv (unlike K.Will's Love Blossom or Roy Kim's Bom Bom Bom.) For the single ladies (and gentlemen) out there, this Spring mv, a collaboration by IU and HIGH4 (or more like....IU being there so people will notice HIGH4), is dedicated for you. It's all about the loneliness you (might) feel and habits you'd do by yourself, while you spot the shiny couples that are (seemingly) everywhere. Must admit that I didn't expect that to be the point of the mv until I read the lyrics in English - not to mention how slow I am by not interpreting the title, Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms.
A little bit about HIGH4 - gathered from the tiny information I comprehended from their music video interview (which btw, was quite a nice concept where IU interviews HIGH4.) Following the conventional K-Pop standards, we've got ourselves four (good looking?) guys with dyed hair, individually assigned nickname/talent/skill and all approx. around the same height. So far so good. Unfortunately I didn't feel enough uniqueness from them and I could tell that IU was trying really hard to promote them and make them stand out, but by the end she seemed to get a bit tired too... Either way, no matter if you're single, just found your or already in a long-term relationship, this mv is for everyone. It's got the rhythm, cute visuals, and the Spring grooves. Enjoy!

Cute cute cute. Randomly clicked into my YouTube account and saw there was a recent upload from CJENMUSIC. Tried to do a bit of google searching this guy/band and wasn't very successful, so you guys will have to correct me if I've misinterpreted anything! (*cheers!*)
Right, so assuming it's a band is called Bluepaprika, they gave me a very good impression. Perhaps it's cause they gave off an in-between Standing Egg and BuskerBusker feel. Two of my favourite K-Pop bands. Also, it seems like the weather's always on my side when I try out new songs. As I listened to the song 5 minutes ago, London's sun was bright and shining with a sky-blue backdrop. 100 points for atmosphere perfection. What I felt was most creative and Spring-ready fresh about the video was it's cartoon animations. The seemingly penciled drawn add-ons into the video really livens up the screen - and decreases one's mental age, despite the grapes and wine for birthday. In addition, the filtered screen suits our generation very much, with girls and boys constantly uploading new insta-photos - which were filtered with much time and effort before one saw it published. (*lol*) Alright, now go ahead and give this song a chance! Finally! After waiting for 9 months since the siblings won K-Pop Star 2, they've released an official music video! Well, I guess there was activity in the middle of the silence - their cf vid Olleh and I Love You for k-drama All About My Romance (which I found to be an extremely catchy, cute song.) But the time has come! A video not for anyone else but themselves! Yes.
Like all music videos, I usually find the 30 second teaser more exciting than the 3 minute video...probably because they hype the fans up with the best bit. Anddd I have to admit that the song itself didn't really hype me up, even though it's shooting straight up the charts (Melon, Bugs!, MNet, olleh music, Naver, Daum, monkey 3, sori bada and Genie.) But! I was extremely impressed by the visual aspect itself. Particularly how towards the end (2.47) there's a revelation of who the guy likes and the unfolding screen technique really brings out the 'what...just...happened...' reaction. Loved it! To add to the fresh material, the doubling up in figures in the video is heck adorable. I wonder how long it took them to shoot it...and how much effort the video editor had to do to get it all in sync. Haha...Bravo! Also, it's obvious that the siblings are use to playing around in front of the screen now...no more baby shyness! |
